Platform

Sustainable and Responsible ASUC

As representatives of Cal students, the ASUC must uphold high standards of fiscal and social accountability. While student group and life provisions are costly, they must remain paramount in ASUC agenda. As President, I will pursue new alternatives to ensure that our university thrives even in these tough economic times, including the hiring of a grant writer to continuously seek external funds. I will also increase student presence on Lower Sproul, ensuring that its vendor revenue streams reflect socially just and environmentally conscious practices.

Collaborating With Administration to Ensure a Safe Campus for All

As Berkeley campaigns to provide premier academic opportunities, it must not forget to create a safe campus climate for all students. As president, I will explore and implement alternative measures to ensure campus security and inclusion, so that no group ever feels unsafe. I will work with the administration to advocate student oversight of UCPD, to ensure that all institutions on this campus support, not criminalize, and protect all students.

Maintaining Our Autonomy

For years, the university has taken away student autonomy and influence by neglecting student voices in their decision-making processes. Currently, the ASUC Auxiliary’s structure hinders student input while continuous budget cuts significantly impair academic curricula. As President, I will secure student autonomy through the creation of an ASUC Auxiliary oversight committee, increase student input in academic policies, and continue visioning with Lower Sproul Redevelopment. Despite the obstacles of the past, I will make sure the student voice remains strong and independent in the future.
