Creating Spaces to Foster Dialogue to Create Transparencies on Campus
There is not enough transparency about issues on campus. We are often unaware about what is going on in our own campus. It is important and sometimes vital to create spaces that foster dialogue and transparency about our campus. If elected as senator, I will work closely with University faculty and staffs to not only understand campus wide issues, but to also invite them into spaces with students, thus creating awareness and transparency. By creating large town halls with administration, we can be informed and hold them accountable.
Lower Sproul Redevelopment
Next Spring Eshleman Hall will come down and many different community organizations will be displaced on our campus. As senator I will ensure that we will maintain student representation during the period of transition due to Lower Sproul Redevelopment. In addition to this, as an advocate to multicultural community space I will push for space in close proximity with one another to foster community and coalition building.
Promote Ethnic Diversity
As an organizer in a recruitment and retention center for African Americans on this campus, I understand the importance of having a diverse student body to combat hostile racial climate and to promote a broader exchange of ideas at UC Berkeley. In order to increase the diversity of this campus I will promote a three-year plan of recruitment to address diversity concerns at UC Berkeley. It is essential that we have set plans to tackle these issues to improve our campus climate.
