Increased accessibility of support services for Veterans, Disabled and Non-Traditional Students

Our campus lacks adequate support services for veterans, disabled and non-traditional students, which decreases retention rates and discourages these students from applying to Cal. As senator, I will increase funding for vital recruitment and retention services for these groups, both in the ASUC and greater university, so that Cal will be a more diverse and welcoming university for all students.

Civic Engagement of the Student Population

When students come to an institution of higher education, our learning is not restricted to the lecture halls. It would be one of my goals to increase programs that teach students how to grassroots organize and lobby on issues concerning student life. With these skills, students will be empowered to change unfair legislation that has had a negative impact on students.

Restructure Undergraduate and Graduate Student Health Insurance

Even though health plans are offered on every UC campus for undergraduate and graduate students, they are different from campus to campus. I will work to restructure our health plan to include better mental health services for students on SHIP, and affordable and quality dependent coverage for students with dependents. As senator, I will also work to increase the utilization of campus health services by both undergraduate and graduate students.
