A Modern and Efficient ASUC
Many of the disappointing fiascos of the past year are the result of outdated ASUC by-laws. Using my experience in the ASUC, I will pursue an overhaul of the ASUC Constitution and By-Laws to promote more effective student governance. I will work closely with the Attorney General and Constitutional Review Committee to make sure that ASUC rules are right for the times. I will make sure that these reforms allow ASUC functions to be carried out in the most efficient and fiscally responsible manner possible with the technologies available today.
ASUC Awareness
As EVP, I will make sure that student organizations are aware of all the funding and non-funding opportunities that the ASUC has to offer. I will hold monthly ASUC town halls and “ASUC 101″ orientations where students can engage directly with ASUC officials and learn how students and their respective organizations can effectively utilize the ASUC. I will also ensure that Senate meetings have live audio broadcasts by the end of the Fall session so that students are aware of what goes on in the ASUC Senate.
Senate Cooperation and Atmosphere
Sharp partisanship often creates a hostile environment for student groups and individual students who come to the Senate with requests for support. As EVP, I will organize retreats for Senators before the Fall and Spring sessions so that they can begin the year on a positive note and end on a similar note.
