Advocating for International Students and International Students Opportunities

Many international student organizations hold great events to introduce their cultures to the campus, and contribute greatly to the diversity of Berkeley. However, because many of them have minimum involvement in the ASUC, their financial need are unknown and they are not allocated enough funds for the activities. Therefore, I will advocate for the international student groups on campus to get more financial support for their events, so that their cultures will be fully exhibited. Equally, I will advocate for more funding for international students as a whole.

Increasing Funds for the Arts and the Access to Performance Spaces

The budget cuts have disproportionally cut the arts, from the decrease of art classes to the lack of funding and space for talented artistic students/ groups. I will work with the finance department to explore solutions and ensure funding. On the ASUC level, I will publicize the ASUC Art and Creativity Fund for students to take advantage and push for more art decals on campus. I will also work to explore more available spaces on campus to better serve the performance student groups.

Promoting the Student Abroad Program

As an international student, it is great to learn about another country and its culture. I want to encourage domestic students to step out of US to experience education abroad. However, the current study abroad programs have limited variety and limited access. I hope to work with the currently existing programs to improve the system and also work with international students to initiate cultural exchange between Berkeley and universities in our countries at a cheaper price.
