Making Our Voices Heard

The academic committees that structure our education remain disconnected from students. We must demand accountability from an administration that makes unilateral decisions about our academic experience. As your AAVP, I will create open town-halls for all students to discuss their concerns and work with student representatives who sit on academic committees to create a long term action plan to prioritize academic, health, and student services.

Service-Learning and Job Preparation

Real-world experience, coupled with our coursework, is essential for staying competitive and prepared to find jobs in this time of economic uncertainty. As your AAVP, I will work with CalCorps, the Career Center, and the administration to increase opportunities for service learning that will make students better prepared for jobs by putting our education into action and giving back to the broader community.

Building a Comprehensive Education

Recent disproportionate cuts to various programs, including PE, Languages, Math, Education and the Arts, as well as the restructuring of International and Area Studies, threaten our school’s diverse academic opportunities. As your AAVP, I will work with the Graduate Assembly, faculty, and the Academic Senate to ensure that the university has a long-term plan for restoring the classes, discussion sections & GSIs it is cutting.
