Platform

Creating Leadership Summits for The Chican@/Latin@ community

As Senator, I will create leadership summits in which the Chican@/Latin@ community comes together to build cross-organizational dialogue to fashion a coalition of success that works on a progressive community agenda on common issues and programming. The purpose is to set the foundation for campus wide dialogue between different cultural, ethnic, racial and community organizations.

Increasing Academic Preparation

In the current economic downturn, obtaining a job or going to graduate school can be a challenge. As Senator, I will ensure high-quality academic preparatory programs in which students become active participants in their role to access professional and graduate degree programs. The goal is to have professionals, faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students engage in apprenticeship programs and distinctive leadership, academic, and career enrichment programs for students.

Creating Research Opportunities

Today, students across the spectrum do not access the different research opportunities on this campus. As senator, my goal is to create a new ASUC fund that will allow students to delve into critical research that enables them to hone skills that give them the opportunity to engage in their area of study. The new “interdisciplinary research fund” will help support undergraduate research and have students be part of the critical research ventures that explore a host of issues that affect the community and motivates their passions.
