Greater Funding and Space for the Arts

In the past year, CalSERVE has made strides in increasing the availability of funding to arts and performance-based groups through the creation of the Arts and Creativity Fund. If elected to senate, I will continue to push for more access to funding for arts and performance-based organizations, as well as fight for better access to and the establishment of new practice and performance spaces. Lets make Zellerbach a space for the community and put a mic stand in every closet.

Community Through Arts and Performances

It is important that we use the arts as a bridge between our diverse communities, opening up more spaces for dialogue, understanding, and unification through our different struggles. In senate, I will not only support more collaborative opportunities between groups in the form of showcases, festivals, and conferences, I will also facilitate regular check-ins between groups, making sure our artistic communities are not only in touch with the needs of each other but also ensuring that the university is in touch with the needs of our artistic communities.

Change Through the Arts

The arts can be better used for the recruitment of under represented students and youth in the community. As senator, I will push for more funding for programs that allow student artists to play a greater role in high school recruitment, facilitating workshops and performances to encourage youth to pursue higher education. I’ll advocate that our school invests in the future of our youth using every medium it has at its disposal.
