Platform
Increasing Access to the ASUC
As a student organizer, I have had first hand experience with the difficulty of obtaining funds or navigating my way through the ASUC for resources. In order for student organizations to continue the essential work that they do, both on campus and in the surrounding communities, the resources in the ASUC need to be more accessible to students. As Senator, I will work to increase the accessiblity of the ASUC to all student groups and hold the ASUC accountable for publicizing resources to the campus community.
Investing in Education
Recent cuts to our education has affected small and underfunded academic departments such as Ethnic Studies, Education, and Languages. I will work with the ASUC and departmental budget committees to advocate for the importance and need to fund struggling departments. As senator, I will ensure the recognition of such departments as vital to the diversity of knowledge in our campus.
Building Community
The work of last year’s “Count-Me-In” Campaign helped to acknowledge that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are often homogenized and treated as one body. As senator, I will work to spread the awareness of the social, political, and cultural diversity within the AAPI communities. Additionally, I will work to increase the collaboration between these communities. Only by working together can we truly create an understanding of the different communities within the greater AAPI identity.
