Rework UC And ASUC Funding Policy

Queer organizations lack the space, funding, and support necessary to fully develop. These vital places of education and dialogue must play funding games, regular programming gets less money every year, and the dance policy is a de facto ban. As Senator, I will aim to rework UC policy and ASUC funding to foster community growth.

Expand Student Internship Opportunities

ASUC Internships are excellent ways to get free training and work experience on campus in a student-friendly environment. With Lower Sproul Redevelopment, a primary ASUC project next year, we should take advantage of student experience and talent while at the same time allowing students to further develop them. Working with the Executive Officers, I will expand this important program.

Fee Accountability

Currently, the University collects nearly $400 from every student as “Registration Fees.” These are distinct from “Educational Fees,” which are spent on learning-related expenses. Registration fees, on the other hand, should go only to student services but there is currently no accountability for it. I will work with the Chancellor to ensure these funds go to student services, and increase student control of these funds, just as other UCs do.

A Safe Berkeley for Students

A safe space for students is more than a permanent space on campus, but also safety on the streets, safety in the classroom, safety walking home, and safety in their housing. I am committed to improving the quality and quantity of housing, public safety, and also creating accepting classrooms and campus spaces.
